SUMMARY
The Great Dao is dead.
Yet its body did not disappear. It became heaven and earth, giving birth to countless worlds within the folds of its slowly rotting flesh.
The farther a person leaves the mortal realm behind, the closer they draw to the source of power, and the more clearly they can smell the decay.
The weak die without ever understanding. The strong discover a truth far more terrifying than death: all their techniques, treasures, and schemes spanning thousands of years merely turn them into fatter maggots feeding on the corpse of the long-dead Great Dao.
At the very bottom of this vast tomb struggles Chen Lingxi, the last descendant of a ruined clan, a government slave, and a test subject for deadly poisons. To the masters of the estate, he is not a person.
He is a piece of meat already marked for the alchemical furnace.
His only advantage is the mysterious Divine Chamber. It allows him to see through the eyes of others, steal knowledge never meant for him, and experience the future before it arrives, a future where every mistake ends in death.
Chen Lingxi does not seek eternal life. He wants only one thing: to crawl off the table before the feast begins.
But the higher he climbs along the path of cultivation, the more horrifying the truth becomes. The table is far larger than he imagined, the diners are beyond counting, and those mortals worship as gods may themselves be nothing more than food.
